The Best Kept Secret of the Middle East

OMAN – The Best Kept Secret of the Middle East

Oman officially the Sultanate of Oman is an Arab country in the southeastern coast of the Arabian Peninsula. Holding a strategically important position at the mouth of the Persian Gulf, the nation is bordered by the United Arab Emirates to the northwest, Saudi Arabia to the west, and Yemen to the southwest, and shares marine borders with Iran and Pakistan. With a total Population of 2,694,094 Oman is a destination with a blend of the old and the new.

Muscat, the capital city of Oman lies sparkling white, topped with golden minarets in the middle of a maze of brown pleated mountains reaching down to the Arabian Sea. Described as "Arabia's jewel” Muscat is green as green can be, and defies being classified as part of a desert country.

The Omani people are extremely friendly, polite and well-mannered with a great pride in their country. The currency of the nation is the Omani Rials (O.R) and the exchange rate is (1US$=0,384 O.R ; 1Euro= 0,594 O.R JUIN 08). The language of the people is ARABIC. However, English is widely spoken (as a second native language).

Visiting Oman leaves you in awe as the road system is second to none in the world. Driving in Oman is pleasurable; vehicles are driven on the right side of the road like in Nigeria. The taxis are orange and white and fares are negotiated before the start of a journey.
